Prof. Yusuf Murat Şen, FUAM Director

After graduating from Marmara University, he had his masters and PhD degrees from Mimar Sinan University. He has become assistant professor in 2002 and professor in 2009. He had a course in Salzbur Summer Academy in 1994. He has been working as an instructor at Mimar Sinan University Photography Department since 1991 and he was assigned as department head between 2007-2013. Besides working as an instructor, he is also the coordinator and the founding member of Photography Application and Research Center, FUAM.

His works have been exhibited in Austria, Sweden, Bosnia Herzegovina, Greece and Bulgaria. In 1990s, he had exhibitions such as “Günümüz Sanatçıları” (1991-1992-1993) and “Genç Etkinlik” and in 2010 “Yaraları Sarmak/ Curing The Wounds” as part of Sarajevo Winter Fest and in 2014 “Islak Kent/Wet City” at Istanbul Tophane-i Amire Cultural Center.


Assoc. Prof. Çetin Ergand, FUAM Vice Director 

Born in Istanbul in 1968. Graduated from Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts Photography Department in 1994. Received his Master’s degree in 1998 and Master of Fine Arts in 2006. Attended to several talks, workshops and symposiums and presented papers at home and abroad on architectural photography, history and methods of panoramic photography. His university course books were published.

In 2011, his photography project on early republic period Ankara architecture was published by Prime Ministry, Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany, Goethe Institute – Ankara and Ankara Chamber of Architects. Awarded with “Pamukbank Photography Contest – Grand Prize” (2001) and entered Pamukbank Photography Gallery Collection. A member of International Visual Reality Photography Association (IVRPA). Works as educator MSGSU Fine Arts University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Photography.


Assistant Professor Tuna Uysal, FUAM Vice Director

Born in 1979, Tuna Uysal lives and works in Istanbul. Studied Photography at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, 2004. Completed Master’s Degree, headed “Visual Interaction Between Photography and Cinematography”, 2007, then completed PhD, headed “Narrative Approaches on Contemporary Art Photography”, 2013, at MSFAU Social Sciences Institute, Photography Program. Joined ISSP 2013. Exhibited at such countries like Finland, Bulgaria and Latvia. Worked with names such as Michael Ackerman and Todd Hido. Published by such magazines as “İz Magazine”, “Yet Magazine”, “F-Stop Magazine”, “Lens Culture”, “Square Space Magazine” and “Dodho Magazine” so far. Exhibited at “Fotoİstanbul 2015”.

Still working as a lecturer and pursuing a career as an artist working with images.


Volkan Kızıltunç, Coordinator of International Relations

Volkan Kızıltunç was born in Ankara in 1976. After studying archeology in Istanbul University he had studied photography at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and graduated in 2005.

He took part to several photography and art projects like “ Young Talents in Turkish Photography”, “ Last & Lost: An Atlas of Diseppearing Europe”, “Middle Town: Picturing the Unspectacular” and “Mamut Art Project”. In 2013 he’s selected as 2013 Turkish Winner of ESSL ART AWARD CEE also the VIG Special Exhibition Invitation Winner which is organised by ESSL Contemporary Art Museum Vienna. In 2015 he won Akbank Contemporary Artists Prize with his video work ” Typologies of Memories”.

He’s exhibited in several international platforms like Passau Museum of Modern Art Germany, ESSL Contemporary Art Museum Austria, TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art Poland, Teleglion Foundation of Contemporary Art Greece, Detroit Center of Contemporary Photography USA and Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art, Istanbul.

Since 2009 he’s been working as a research assistant in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University ,Department of Photography. He’s doing photography and video projects and living in Istanbul.


Mert Çağıl Türkay, Assistant Coordinator of International Relations 

Born in 1987 in Istanbul. Graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Photography Department and continues his master degree education.
Participated in many international exhibitions and projects such “International Print Triennial / Interfaces”, “Realm- Eyes On / Monat der fotografie Wien” and “Mamut Art Project”. Produces photography, installation and video art projects. Works as research assistant in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Photography Department and lives in Istanbul.


Onur Girit, Assistant Coordinator of International Relations 

Born in İstanbul, 1982. Graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Photography Department in 2014. His works have been exhibited in “Young Fresh and Different 2” and later on in several exhibitions such as, Seni Üzmeme İzin Verme”(2015) , “Aile Salonumuz Yoktur”(2010). He works with photography and lives in İstanbul.


Elçin Acun, Researcher

Born in İzmir, 1982. She had her undergraduate and graduate degree in photography department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and works as a research assistant at the same department also working on her projects on photography and video.

Her works have been exhibited in “Young Fresh and Different” and recently in “Seni Üzmeme İzin Verme”(2015) Studio Açık, “Uzaktan Çok Yakın”, (2015) Bilgi University Santral Campus, ÇSM Gallery.
